Vegan Collagen for Better Hair, Skin & Nails

What’s on the inside must shine out, right? The health of your hair, skin and nails are a key indicator of how healthy your body is on the inside.

One of the most effective ways to look good on the outside is to take collagen internally. Collagen contains many amino acids which can promote good gut health, and as you know, when your gut’s healthy, your hair, skin and nails can look amazing. In fact, collagen is wonderful for your whole body, including your bones, tendons, ligaments and joints too.

There are a lot of collagen products out there on the market, most of them animal based. But, did you know that there are just as, or in some cases more, effective plant-based ingredients that can be blended together to boost collagen production? Here are some of those ingredients:

Essential amino acids such as glycine, proline and lysine have been found to be highly effective in increasing collagen synthesis in the body. In contrast, glycine deficiency has found to be a cause of osteoarthritis, and can negatively affect connective and mechanical tissues, including the skin.[1]

Hyaluronic acid can also help boost collagen production. Naturally found in the body, hyaluronic acid is mainly found in your skin, connective tissue and eyes, keeping your tissues lubricated and moist.[2]  Unfortunately, this precious substance decreases as you age so it’s important to look at adding this to your daily regime with a good quality supplement.

Vitamin C and Zinc have also been shown to help increase the levels of collagen in the body.[3] Obviously eating foods rich in these elements is always best, but to ensure the process of collagen production is working at peak performance in your body, we recommend taking a collagen supplement that includes these.

Here at Wonder Foods, we have a wonderful (no pun intended) supplement we think you’ll love. It provides building blocks and cofactors for the synthesis of healthy collagen. It has Hyaluronic Acid and Aloe Vera, which is great for the gut, it has a tasty berry flavour and has no artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners or preservatives.

It’s our Vegan Collagen Boost for hair, skin and nails, and it’s available here
